At Mountains of Music my goal is to provide you with comprehensive yet individualized lessons. If you are studying guitar, we will learn how to read music and tablature, and play songs using chords. In piano, we will learn how to read music, cover theory and technique and advance toward playing a variety of musical styles. My goal is that you find joy in your musical adventures here at Mountains of Music LLC!
Meet the Instructor!
My name is Ruby Osburn and I own and operate Mountains of Music LLC.
I am the sole instructor, providing private piano and guitar lessons in my home-based studio.
I have recently retired from public school teaching and moved to the beautiful town of Independence. I’m excited to provide you with quality and comprehensive music instruction!
My Background:
I have a BA in Music Education and a Masters in Education with an Emphasis in Music from Sonoma State. I have worked as a public-school music teacher in California and Washington for over 20 years, as well as acting as Dean of Students.
For 13 years I ran my own business, teaching piano, guitar, and directing a City-Wide Children’s Chorus and Teen Chorus whilst contracting with local schools to provide music instruction.
I have also served as an Executive Director of a non-profit devoted to supporting music education and authored the book, “Teach Your Kids About Music.”
Prices
Private lessons for children and adults are $120 per month; 30 minutes weekly, by appointment only. See policies for more on missed lessons.
Payments are due on the first of the month in the form of a check. Please make checks payable to Mountains of Music LLC.
Students are responsible for purchasing the required music books.
